Watch out, MLB—Cleburne, Texas, is ready to play hardball. After more than 100 years since it disbanded (following its Texas League Championship victory in 1906), the Cleburne Railroaders baseball team is back in business. Paying homage to its legendary past and taking the city by storm, the Railroaders will play a series of games at The Depot at Cleburne Station, opening this month. Watch baseball the way The Depot intended with these 10 top things to do at a Cleburne Railroader Game.
1.Hang out by the outfield.
You’ll want to come early before the game starts if you want to snag seating in the left-field bleachers at Brakeman’s Boardwalk. The bleachers are located in prime fly-ball territory, so be sure to bring your mitt and test your luck.
2. Have a tailgate party.
The Depot permits tailgate parties before Railroaders games, but only in designated spaces. The areas are first-come, first-serve, so show up early and get your party started hours before the game.
3. Bring the kids.
No child wants to be confined to his or her seat for an entire baseball game. Families toting smaller children will want to seat near right field, where there’s a playground for kids to enjoy. Right field is also conveniently located by the bullpen, allowing kids to watch the pitchers and catchers warm up.
4. Get fancy.
If it’s within your budget, create unforgettable memories by booking luxury suites for your group or family. Each private suite seats up to 16 people and guests will get a mind-blowing panoramic view of the stadium in the comfort of air conditioning. Booking a luxury suite also includes complimentary access to the buffet in the Conductor’s Club and butler service during the game.
5. Host a party.
Did you know The Depot has a private party deck? As long your group is smaller than 50 people, you can purchase tickets to the second level of the stadium, where guests can enjoy the concession stands, vendor carts and drinks overlooking the field.
6. Stock up on gear.
Show your support for the Cleburne Railroaders by acquiring a shirt or mug with the team’s logo. Merch can be found at the Railroaders Team Store, currently under works and scheduled to open to the public soon.
7. Go for green.
Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic blanket and kick back to enjoy the game at the Grass Berm Seating area. Located directly on the field in an enclosed section, the grassed area provides fans a place to picnic while rooting for their favorite team.
8. Come hungry.
Trade popcorn and soda from walking vendors for a more substantial meal at Porter’s Plaza, where you’ll find delicacies like pizzas and sandwiches waiting for you. The plaza is located on the first base line, and families can grab one of the complimentary tables for service.
9. Stay after the game.
As the game ends, you and your kids can tackle the field and retrace the steps of your favorite players. It’s safe to say your children will love running around the bases and imagining themselves as professional baseball players. Before you leave stop by the historical railroader museum that provides insight on why the local team earned its name.
10. Plan postgame activities.
Cleburne recently opened the Cleburne Railroad Museum. While located off-site from the stadium, the museum highlights the city’s strong history in the railroad industry.
